Budget Process

The campus budget cycle aligns with the budget processes of the UC Regents and the State of California. Funding for the core campus operating budget primarily comes from tuition and fees, set by the Regents, and state allocations. These decision-making processes build on one another to shape the final campus budget.

The formal annual campus budget process typically spans January through June, with final budget allocations occurring between July and September of the following fiscal year. The budget timeline provides a structured overview of the planning, review, and decision-making process. Planning, forecasting, and tracking of budget to actuals are year-round activities that are fundamental to responsible financial management.
